The Interculture - AFS Portugal is an association of Youth and Volunteering, non-profit organization. It has no party affiliation, religious or other has and Public Utility Institution status.
The Interculture - AFS is part of an international network represented in 56 countries with headquartered in New York - USA. In Portugal, it still represents the European Federation for Intercultural Learning (EFIL) and is a member of the National Youth Council (CNJ).
It aims to contribute to peace and understanding between peoples through youth exchanges and families, for Intercultural Learning and Global Education.
Since 1956 it promotes youth exchanges in Portugal and abroad, and the quality of its programs makes Intercultura-AFS leader in this area. The Intercultura - AFS Portugal is part of the National Youth Associations Registration, recognized by the Ministry of Youth and supported by the Portuguese Youth Institute. The validity of our programs is also recognized by the Ministry of Education.
Because we believe that mutual understanding leads people to a mutual respect and the development of a global consciousness, we strive to promote exchange programs.
